Vertical evaluation of air quality improvement by urban forest using unmanned aerial vehicles

Urban forest is considered an effective strategy for mitigating urban air pollution via deposition, absorption and dispersion processes. However, previous studies had focused mainly on the deposition effect or removal capacity near ground, while net of quality rarely evaluated in vertical dimension. In this study, PM 2.5 (particulate matter with diameter less than 2.5), 10 μm), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), nitrogen (NO ozone (O 3 ) concentrations, temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure at 0, 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, 100 m forest, street, community areas were collected by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped Sniffer4D V2 overcast sunny days. The PM, CO, NO , O concentrations increased height below 20 then slightly decreased day, whereas SO within m. morning it afternoon day. obstructed from canopy when grew lower morning, but hindered higher afternoon.
